Update 21st December 2022

For several days now, two of the three young males, Aeon and Rae, have not been visiting. They are still a bit young to go off on their own to seek new territories, however in both cases their mothers' territories are mostly outside the area of the house, so maybe they don't feel safe intruding into an area which isn't their own and which is filled with other increasingly hostile possums.

Update 20th October 2022

Other than some disruption caused by a carpet python, there have been no major upsets in the possum community since my last blog entry. All of the babies are doing well.

Introducing Aeon, Grasshopper, Rae and Kulan

Within the space of a few days, all three of the females in the area arrived with back-riding babies.

Sasha was the first to arrive with her baby Aeon.

Also, a new male possum, Kulan has made himself known. He has probably been around for a while but has only recently become friendly with the humans.

Baby Possum Alert

Despite the cold weather, Sasha's latest baby (her 15^th) has been venturing out of her pouch in the nestbox. So now is the time for a Baby Possum Alert.

Sasha and her baby can be seen in one of the three boxes in the back yard - Boxes 1, 3 and 5.

Update 24th June 2022

Although it has been a while since the last entry, relatively little has changed in the possum world. Hapi is growing up. This is what he looked like in April.

Update 18th April 2022 - An anniversary and some sad news

This blog has now been up for ten years, but the anniversary sort of snuck up on me and I haven't prepared any sort of special post to mark the event. And also there has been some very sad news which has put a damper on things: Darcel was found dead. He was found next to a power pole and appears to have been electrocuted.

Baby Possum Alert

For a few days now, Wink's baby (her second) has been venturing out of her pouch and making a pest of itself in the nestbox. So now is the time for a Baby Possum Alert.
