There have been a few things happen since the last update, but first some photos of Pogo.

Update 25th Aug 2018 - Naming of the new possums

It turns out Zoƫ does indeed have two babies. These have been named Leto and Ghani. I think (but am by no means sure) that both are male. Leto has the longer white tip on his tail (about a third of its length) and Ghani the shorter (less than a quarter).

Toto is Back!

Last night Toto appeared on the balcony handrail. This is the first time she has been seen in about six months.

Toto - 11th Feb 2017

She looks calm and is in very good condition, which is very encouraging.

Update 19th July 2016

Sasha, Farley, Wasabi and Ruby have been visiting fairly regularly. Maple has been seen a couple of times, and Toto has also visited a few times recently. Flynn hasn't been seen for a considerable time and has probably left the area. It's a very dangerous time for young possums when they leave to find their own homes and I wish him all the best.

Farley - 16th July 2016

Farley has been picking up a few pluckings and scratches, which is normal for him. Luckily there hasn't been any sign of infection.

Update 13th June 2016

All of the usual brushtails - Sasha, Farley, Toto and Flynn - are still visiting. As far as the ringtails go, Ruby is still visiting, Maple is often seen with her and Wasabi has started visiting again. On one occasion Maple may have visited with Wasabi.

Maple is a very active little ringtail, leaping around the trees like a little Ninja.

Update 7th May 2016

There have been no major changes here for a while; Sasha, Farley, Toto and Flynn are still around. Ruby has been seen a few times and once brought Maple to the house. On another occasion, Maple and Clover visited together. Maple is a little girl possum.

Clover is more shy than Maple and was difficult to photograph. Clover has a dark spot on the white tip of his/her tail which resembles a ringtail named Rosebud who was Wasabi's older brother and therefore would be Maple and Clover's uncle.

Update 31st March 2016

Sasha and Farley are visiting every night, with Toto and Flynn showing their faces every now and then. Ruby and Wasabi have also been seen but are mostly staying away, hopefully looking after Maple and Clover.

Flynn - 22nd Mar 2016

Although Flynn is still small and still shares a sleeping spot with Sasha, Sasha is getting less tolerant of him and chases him away from the house when she sees him.

Update 10th Feb 2016 - Introducing Flynn

Sasha's baby has been named Flynn.

Flynn - 9th Feb 2016

Flynn is now at the stage where he is starting to take food from hand.

Sasha's baby makes his first appearance

Sasha's baby, who I think is a little boy possum, has been seen in person for the first time.

The baby has not yet been named.

Update 25th Dec 2015

I thought I'd start this post with a Christmassy looking photo. This is a King Parrot who visited last week.

King Parrot - 17th Dec 2015

As a holiday bonus, we have a Baby Possum Alert. Sasha has been using Box 7, and her latest baby has started to emerge from her pouch during the daytime.

Update 28th Nov 2015

Currently, only Sasha and Farley have been turning up with any regularity. Toto has been seen on and off - she is still living in the ceiling space but doesn't visit the feeding area very often and is probably being kept away by Sasha.

A Shortage of Baby Possums

Given the last few posts on this blog, you would have thought that this place would currently be overrun with cute baby possums, and you might be wondering where all of the photos are.

Update 26th July 2015

The biggest news recently is that Wasabi has had another stay in Possum Hospital (in brief; the treatment went smoothly and he now looks OK). I will post the details of this separately, meanwhile, here's a roundup of other news:

The brushtails Kiki, Toto, Sasha, Farley and Comet and the ringtails Wasabi, Tilda and Ruby have all been visiting. At one stage a young ringtail, who is probably Ruby's baby, visited but didn't stay long and hasn't been seen since.

Sasha - 24th July 2015

All of the female possums, including even Toto, have babies in their pouches. Sasha's is the furthest along and we might see parts of it sticking out of the pouch within the next few weeks.

Update 23rd June 2015

The brushtails Kiki, Toto, Farley, Comet, and Sasha and the ringtails Wasabi, Tilda and Ruby are all currently visiting.

Toto with injured leg - 16th June 2015

Toto has an injury to her front right leg.

Sunday, 10 May 2015

Update 10th May 2015

Kiki, Toto, Comet, Farley, Sasha, Wasabi and Tilda are all currently visiting. In addition, a mother ringtail (probably Ruby) and her baby have been seen close to the house several times, having apparently been encouraged to visit by Wasabi. Once Wasabi brought the baby to the house himself; he is a good father and willing to share parenting duties.

Sasha - 7th May 2015

There is still a possum in the ceiling, and I am not sure whether this is Sasha

Sunday, 12 April 2015

Update 12th Apr 2015

Kiki, Toto, Comet, Farley, Wasabi and Tilda are all currently visiting, and sometimes several appear at the same time.

Possum Circus (Left to right: Farley, Toto and Kiki) - 5th April 2015

In addition, there is a new possum in the area. This is an adult female who has been named Sasha. Sasha is probably the one who has been sleeping in the ceiling space, and not the new male seen mating with Kiki (who hasn't been seen since that time). It is unusual for a female possum to come into area, and it's possible the Sasha might have been evicted from a neighbour's ceiling and taken refuge here.

Update 31st Mar 2015

Kiki, Toto and Comet are all visiting regularly and in good health.

Toto - 27th Mar 2015

Toto is a typical independent and adventurous baby brushtail. He [I'm assuming Toto is male, although there's no definite proof yet] frequently visits by himself, and even when very young, would run off into a distant tree when he scored a particularly juicy morsel of food.

Introducing Toto

Kiki's latest baby (her 12th) is now out of the pouch. He or she (the gender is still unclear although the little one looks more like a boy) has been named Toto.

Toto on Kiki's back - 8th March 2015

Unfortunately, Kiki didn't visit Box 7 when Toto was in the pouch, so we didn't get to see the little one come out to play, like we did with Kiki's previous several babies.
