Blossum's new baby is now back-riding and has been named Bisou. The little one may be female but I'm not sure about this.

Bisou is very brave and was not at all scared of the humans who towered over her.

Gandalf is still around and visits regularly. He is in good health. At one point he had a small wound near his elbow, but that healed without drama.

An unknown male brushtail visited a couple of times last month. I think he may be Drak returning for a brief visit. Young male brushtails very rarely visit home after leaving the area, but it is not unknown and this possum has a fairly close resemblance to Drak. He also took food from hand at once without the usual hesitation of a new possum.

Rudy the ringtail continues to use Box 2 whenever there isn't a brushtail in it. He seems to prefer man-made habitation because when he gets kicked out of Box 2, he often ends up sleeping under the kitchen floor.
Many of the other creatures in the garden are no longer seen.
Elton hasn't been seen for some time. Normally, he wouldn't be hibernating for winter yet, but maybe he's started early or moved away. He has been around for quite a while and I suppose he could have reached the end of his lifespan.
Bisou has been very cute and active lately in the boxes with Blossom. It's nice to see that Gandalf, and maybe Drak, are still doing well. Rudy has been rather cozy, but is there a crawlspace or the like under the kitchen? How have you been able to spot him?
ReplyDeleteAlso, there does appear to be multiple boxes with brushtails at the moment, do you know if that's likely Gandalf or Drak showing up in the boxes along with Blossom?
DeleteThe house is a wooden two-story one with the kitchen on the second story. The second story is slightly wider than the one below and there is a small amount of open space under this overhang next to a joist supporting the kitchen floor. There's a semi-enclosed area at one end of this space where a possum can sleep. You can usually see if there's a possum there from underneath, although the area is heavily shaded and it often takes a torch to see for sure.
DeleteI'm pretty sure the other brushtail is Gandalf. I don't expect to see Drak back in the area and he might have been just passing through searching for a territory for himself.
Hopefully it is Drak that's back; I've missed him a lot!
