Comet with the mystery orange powder on his nose - 25th Dec 2014 |
The presence of this orange powder is an ongoing minor mystery that occurs pretty much every December (but no other time of year).
I don't suppose the possums are getting into someone's Christmas supply of Twisties [or Cheetos, if you're an American] every year, so I assume it's pollen from something flowering in the neighbourhood, but I've never been able to identify the plant. There's certainly nothing in the garden which produces such copious amounts of orange pollen.
Whatever it is, the possums really seem to like it.
