Baby Possum Alert!

Today, Kiki slept in box 7 for the first time in a long while, and her pouch baby came out to play. This is the first time her latest baby has been seen.

Kiki and 11th Baby - 12th August 2014

If Kiki remains in Box 7, the next few weeks will be a very good time to tune in to Possum TV.

Although still small, the little one is very active. It was leaping and climbing around the box and at times apparently biting on the rungs. Like Oz, the baby wasn't afraid to climb partly out out the entrance hole, with only the tail remaining inside.

Kiki's baby is small...
but very active

For the benefit of any new viewers; there is a brief period of time (maybe a couple of weeks) when a baby possum is not yet old enough to back-ride during the night, but is old enough to come out of the pouch during the day. This is the most interesting time to watch the box cameras, because the baby has been asleep in the pouch all night, and therefore is full of energy during the day and up to all sorts of mischief in the nestbox.

At most, you might get to see this twice a year, so now is the time to watch. Kiki will probably come into the box at least a couple of times per week (although you can never be sure with possums), so you should keep checking, even if the box has been empty for several days. And be sure to select "streaming mode" on the camera.
