Update 25th Dec 2018

Nikita is visiting regularly. She seems to have inherited Koji's nature; she is extremely trusting towards humans and careful not to scratch when taking food from them. She currently has a couple of growing babies in her pouch and doesn't even mind if humans touch her pouch.

Update 14th Nov 2018

First of all, apologies for the Possum TV site being unavailable recently. From the 24th of October until the 10th of November there were Cable Internet issues, seeming related to the cable network being transferred from Telstra's ownership to the NBN. Full transition to the NBN is scheduled to happen in the second quarter of next year, so it is possible there could be ongoing problems up to (and most likely beyond) that date, although currently the Internet is OK as I write this.

Now to possum news: Pogo is still around. He avoids Sasha altogether because she now chases him off on sight.

There have been a few things happen since the last update, but first some photos of Pogo.

Possums Too Violent for YouTube!

YouTube has deleted my video "Epic Possum Fight: Piranha v Marlon" because they say that it Violates Community Guidelines against Violent and Graphic Content. My YouTube channel now has a "Community Guidelines Strike" against it. This is fairly serious; two more strikes and they permanently delete my channel.

BANNED: TOO VIOLENT FOR YOUTUBE!

If you want to see this movie, there is a copy downloadable from the main Possum TV site. Please be aware my upload rate is comparatively slow, so it will take some time to download.

Update 25th Aug 2018 - Naming of the new possums

It turns out Zoë does indeed have two babies. These have been named Leto and Ghani. I think (but am by no means sure) that both are male. Leto has the longer white tip on his tail (about a third of its length) and Ghani the shorter (less than a quarter).

Update 7th Aug 2018 - A swarm of baby possums

Both Zoë and Sasha have brought their new baby possums to the house. Zoë first brought a baby on the night of the Blood Moon. I don't know if this is prophetic in some way (ominous voice: "The Chosen One has arrived on the Night of the Blood Moon, as the Legend foretold."), or whether that's putting too much pressure on a tiny little ball of fluff. Here is the first picture taken of them:

Baby Possum Alert

Sasha's latest baby has been seen out of the pouch, so it's time to give a Baby Possum Alert.

The box cameras are at this link. Click on a box to get streaming video for that box. Sasha is mostly using box 4 and box 7 If there's a possum in box 1 or 2, it will probably be Tarzan.

The little one will be out of the pouch more often when it's warmest (currently about 2:00 to 5:00 pm), but it's worth tuning in at any time during the day.

Update 30th June 2018

There appears to be only one of the two young ringtails - Akira - visiting now. Akira sometimes visits with his father Koji or his mother Zoë, or occasionally both together.

Update 6th May 2018

Tarzan is becoming less tolerated by Sasha. A month ago he was able to tear food out of her mouth, but now she bites him and chases him off if she sees him eating food in her vicinity.

Update 6th Apr 2018

Since the last entry, Marlowe, Zoë, Akira and Nikita have showed up and for a while there were a lot of possums visiting. Now, however, a carpet python has appeared and the possums are making themselves scarce again. Here is a photo of Akira soon after he reappeared:

The Internet of Possums

This is very old news, but I thought I'd let everyone know that Possum TV featured in an art exhibition in May of last year.

Stephen Barrass, who was one of the collaborators in this exhibit, had contacted me earlier that month for permission to use some videos from the Possum TV YouTube channel, but I subsequently forgot all about it and only just recently checked up to see what became of the project.

Update 10th Mar 2018

All of the visiting possums are healthy with no visible injuries. Arrow has now been out of the pouch for a bit over six months and this is the time that young males start to get chased out of the area, although this varies quite a bit (the longest time was about a year for Kiki's baby Comet).

Although there are no particular signs that Sasha is making efforts to chase him off, he might disappear at any time, so I'll post some more photos of him while I have the chance.

Update 25th Feb 2018

Despite the fact that Tarzan has grown quite large, he still rides on Sasha's back. Luckily Sasha is a big strong possum.

Update 25th Jan 2018 - Baby Animals Galore

I'll start with the first close-up photo of Sasha's latest baby, Tarzan.

Tarzan - 20th Jan 2018

I want to apologise on behalf of Sasha. At the start of December I announced a Baby Possum Alert with great fanfare - I even created a special graphic for it - urging people to tune in to see the cute antics of Sasha's latest baby. Anyone who actually did this would have faced the disappointing spectacle of empty possum boxes day after day.

Update 6th Jan 2018

Sasha's new baby, who is another boy, has been named Tarzan. He had just started back-riding early in the night. Here is the first photo of him. The photo is a bit grainy; Sasha was keeping the young one away from humans at this stage and was up the top of a tree out of the range of the flash and I had to brighten the photo a lot.
