Baby Ringtail Surprise

There was an unexpected surprise tonight; Ruby visited with two cute little babies on her back.

On previous visits her pouch was looking very large, but I never guessed her babies were this well developed and didn't expect to see them this soon.

Wasabi was also present when Ruby was visiting. He stayed further back in the trees and appeared to be watching out for danger, like the good father possum that he is.

Ruby had no problem with coming right onto the handrail; in fact it seemed like she was deliberately showing off her babies. Of course it could equally well be that she was showing a tame human to her babies.

She let me briefly touch her babies. They felt surprisingly warm. Maybe they had only recently emerged from her pouch.
