Update 12th July 2023 - Introducing Vincent

I'll start this long-delayed post with a picture of Sun.

Sun is now at the stage where he's still allowed to sleep in Wink's territory, but Wink chases him off when foraging for food at night.

Here are some pictures from back in April when Wink still tolerated his company:

Going on past experience it should be at least another month before Sun has to leave the area.

Wink is still going strong and has another baby (her 5^th) in the pouch.

The new male brushtail with the damaged ear-tip has been named Vincent and is now a regular visitor.

Vincent appears to have been accepted into the area; he sleeps in boxes both in Wink's and Sasha's territories without being ejected and has even been allowed to sleep in the garage, which is a prime sleeping spot. He is calm and gentle with humans and seems respectful of other possums. He hasn't even hassled Sun yet.

Sasha and Lorien stopped visiting in April. Sasha is still around. She often uses boxes 1 and 5 and is occasionally seen in the trees at the back of the garden, but no longer approaches the house. Lorien no longer sleeps with Sasha but was seen on his own visiting box 5 in May. He is most likely still out there somewhere is Sasha's territory.

This is the only photo I've been able to get of Sasha and Lorien since April. They were in a distant tree too far away to be properly illuminated by the flash and I've had to enhance the photo.

It's a bit unusual that Sasha, who is a very big and strong possum and still in perfect health, would not want intrude into Wink's territory - even briefly for food. Blossom, who is much smaller than Sasha, visits pretty much every night, despite getting chased off by Wink on sight.

It's possible that Sasha has been deliberately staying away for Lorien's benefit; she doesn't want to encourage him to visit the house where there are another four possums all bigger than him. If this is true, then Sasha might start visiting again when Lorien leaves home; which is likely to be in the Spring time although possibly later.

Meanwhile Blossom is still visiting almost every day. She sleeps in Box 8 some days, but mostly sleeps somewhere outside the Possum TV area.

Blossom has a baby in her pouch. This will be her second baby.
